Hanwha Defence Australia is proud to be a sponsor for the Geelong Kokoda Youth Program, sponsoring two students and two staff in preparation to undertake the 96Km Kokoda Trek in Papua New Guinea.
Each year, up to 24 vulnerable youth are selected from every state secondary and eligible private schools in the Geelong region to commence an intensive, year-long program that honours the Kokoda Pillars of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice.
Educating students on the historic World War II campaign in which Australian soldiers partook, the program emphasises personal development, fitness and diet in conjunction with 20 weeks of physical training.
Led by mentors from local businesses and government organisations, the program also allows students to access help from positive role models and receive stable, genuine support from the team.
